چکیده

A novel volume of fluid (VoF) model called explicit diffusion (EVD) is developed for the simulation interfacial flows, including those with turbulence and primary spray atomization. It derived by averaging VoF equations over an explicit, physically-defined length scale. Fluctuations at sub-volume scales, which can arise due to interface dynamics or turbulence, are attenuated process their effects appear in unclosed terms representing flux, stress, averaged surface tension force. Perspective on Eulerian Finite Volume Methods for Incompressible Interfacial Flows

Incompressible interfacial ows here refer to those incompressible ows possessing multiple distinct, immiscible uids separated by interfaces of arbitrarily complex topology. A prototypical example is free surface ows, where uid properties across the interface vary by orders of magnitude. Interfaces present in these ows possess topologies that are not only irregular but also dynamic, undergoing g...

finite volume-lattice boltzmann modeling of viscous flows

in this paper, a viscous flow simulation is presented using the lattice boltzmann equation (lbe). a finite volume approach is adapted to discretize the lbe on a cell-centered, arbitrary shaped, rectangular tessellation. the formulation includes upwind scheme and high order descretization schemes for the flux term and collision operator respectively. a consistent open and solid boundary treatmen...

A Particle-Based Method Coupled with Finite Volume Solver for Interfacial Flows

A hybrid Lagrangian-Eulerian (hLE) scheme, combining a particle-based, mesh-free technique with a finitevolume flow solver, is developed for direct simulations of two-phase flows. The approach uses marker points around the interface and advects the signed distance to the interface in a Lagrangian frame. The kernel–based derivative calculations typical of particle methods are used to extract the...
